Shavkat Mirziyoyev Visits ADM AGRO Pilot Agrotechnology Cluster

During his working visit to Karakalpakstan, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the ADM AGRO project for the development of an intensive plum orchard. The project is being implemented in the Kegeyli district jointly with the Agency for Development of Agro-Industry of Uzbekistan.

ADM AGRO is a pilot agrotechnology cluster covering 300 hectares of saline land in Karakalpakstan. The project aims to use modern agricultural technologies and engineering solutions to improve land productivity and develop a sustainable model of agricultural production under challenging natural and climatic conditions. During the second stage, the project area is expected to expand to 1,000 hectares.

To date, 200,000 plum saplings have been planted across the cluster. Once the orchard reaches full production capacity, annual output is expected to reach 7,500 tonnes of fruit, with projected annual revenue of UZS 72 billion. Total investment in the project amounts to over UZS 50 billion.

The project combines an engineering approach, precision agriculture technologies, industrial discipline and the potential for further scaling.

The precision agriculture system uses sensors to monitor soil moisture, salinity and other parameters in real time. AI-controlled drip irrigation helps optimise water consumption and precisely regulate the supply of minerals and other components required to reduce the adverse effects of soil salinity.

ADM AGRO uses drones and satellite monitoring to continuously monitor the condition of the orchard. Analysis of the Normalised Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) helps assess plant health and identify signs of stress at an early stage.

The project also includes high-yield crops resistant to salinity and drought, as well as modern land reclamation methods designed to improve soil structure and reduce the impact of excessive salt levels.

ADM Global applies its industrial management principles to the project, including cost control and key performance indicators for each hectare, process standardisation and the development of a complete value chain. Cooperation with international technology partners and the transfer of modern agricultural technologies help establish a modern agrotechnology cluster based on the orchard, with a model that can later be replicated on a larger scale.

The project is expected to create 300 permanent jobs and provide seasonal employment for up to 5,000 people.

The experience of major international automotive groups such as THACO in Vietnam and Hyundai in South Korea shows that expertise developed in the industrial sector can also be applied effectively in agriculture. These companies use engineering solutions, automation, modern management systems, logistics and established supply chains in their agricultural businesses.
