Automechanika Tashkent 2025. Inside the Automotive Business: Experience, Insights, and Forecasts

On October 22, 2025, the Central Asian Expo Uzbekistan (CAEx) exhibition complex hosted an expert panel discussion, "Automotive Business from the Inside: Experience, Insights, Forecasts," as part of the Automechanika Tashkent 2025 international exhibition. It was organized with the support of the Automobile Business Association of Uzbekistan (ABA Uzbekistan).

The event brought together leading automotive industry representatives, analysts, and practitioners to discuss the current state and development prospects of the automotive business in Uzbekistan and the Central Asian region. The focus will be on production localization, dealer network development, after-sales service market transformation, and adaptation to new technological trends.

The expert panel included Sh. F. Yusupov, Chairman of the Automobile Business Association of Uzbekistan (ABA Uzbekistan), I. V. Shevchenko, Head of the Analytical Department of the Automobile Business Association of Kazakhstan (AKAB), A. V. Istomin, Director of Dealer Network Development, A. V. Kurenkov, Commercial Director of the ADM Global group of companies, and K. O. Nagiyev, owner and manager of DAS AUTO.

In his speech, ABA Uzbekistan Chairman Shukhrat Fattakhovich Yusupov noted that the country's automotive market is undergoing an important transformation, where growth rates are combined with the need for systemic changes in approaches to business and customer interactions.

"Today, it is important not just to produce cars, but to build a complete ecosystem around them – from localizing components and developing service infrastructure to implementing modern technologies and fostering a new service culture." The automotive business is becoming part of a broader economic system, and success directly depends on the ability to combine the efforts of manufacturers, distributors, and the government.

We are witnessing a dynamic increase in competition in the industry. Previously, there were only two manufacturers operating in Uzbekistan – UzAuto and SamAuto, which were part of a single structure – but today their number has increased to six. These are UzAuto Motors, ADM Jizzakh, Asaka Motors International, BYD Uzbekistan Factory, Jizzakh Automobile Plant, and SAZ.

In my opinion, market competition is the main driver of industry development,” emphasized Shukhrat Yusupov.

The experts exchanged views on market development prospects, discussed challenges facing the industry, and ways to strengthen interregional cooperation. The panel became a platform for open professional dialogue and the exchange of experience between automotive industry participants from different countries.

Alexey Kurenkov noted:

"While there were only eight official distributors on the market in 2022, by 2025 there were 23 – a nearly threefold increase in three years. This is not a cause for alarm, but a sign of the market's maturity and attractiveness. Competition makes us stronger, forces us to be closer to the customer, and transform service from a formality into a philosophy." Today, the winner is the one who truly listens to their customers."

The event was organized by the Automobile Business Association of Uzbekistan (ABA Uzbekistan), an independent non-profit organization that unites key market participants and promotes the development of the automotive industry, improves service standards, and strengthens business ties within the industry.

The panel further confirmed the market participants' commitment to openness, joint development, and building long-term partnerships that will strengthen Uzbekistan's position as a hub for the automotive business in Central Asia.
